Calidus Resources Limited are a gold exploration and development company who operates the Warrawoona Gold Project located near Marble Bar in the East Pilbara district of Western Australia.
After a short operational pause, exciting changes are underway as we embrace new management and look to ramp our Warrawoona project back up to full production by March 2025.
With a bright future ahead, the Warrawoona Gold Project is expected to have a mine life of initially 5+ years with significant potential to further resources within the region.
About the Role:
In this site based role, the Environmental Manager, will be responsible for coordinating the strategic development of Calidus projects and overseeing the environmental and heritage aspects of the Warrawoona Gold Project in collaboration with the site environmental team and other projects.
This includes managing environmental compliance, environmental approvals, external reporting, and relationships with environmental regulatory authorities and community stakeholders.
There is an exciting pipeline of projects to progress environmental surveys and studies and subsequent approvals.
This role is offered on a FIFO from Perth basis, working 8 days on, 6 days off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage future environmental approvals including coordinating environmental impact assessments and studies, facilitating and reviewing incorporation of operational inputs and conducting technical and quality-based reviews for submissions.
- Effectively manage environmental compliance to statutory and legislative requirements.
- Monitor legislative standards providing advice on potential impacts to current and future operations onsite.
- Ensure the establishment, development, implementation, and maintenance of the Environmental Management System.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to support operational decisions including supporting teams during the planning process.
- Develop, review and manage annual operational and capital budgets.
- Develop, implement and monitor rehabilitation programs.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring programs and quality control is in place for groundwater, flora and fauna, soils and disturbance activities.
- Oversee, in collaboration with site teams, all external environmental reporting such as NPI, NGER, AER & MRF within required timeframes.
About you:
We are looking for suitably qualified candidates who have:
- 10+ years environmental experience for a mining company, including site-based experience preferably in gold mining and experience at a senior site leadership management level.
- Excellent knowledge of Western Australian approvals and statutory compliance requirements and ability to provide competent advice.
- Coordinating the preparation of State and Federal environmental approvals.
- Developing and maintaining environmental approvals strategies.
- Experience in managing heritage, landholder, community and Regulatory relationships.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of mining approvals, groundwater, flora & fauna, soils, rehabilitation and mine closure.
